Volunteer At The Annual IOCDF OCD Conference July 8-10, 2022 in Denver, Colorado!

Click here to volunteer at the IOCDF’s Denver, Colorado in-person conference happening from July 8-10, 2022: Apply to volunteer!

Volunteers are vital to the success of the Annual OCD Conference and the IOCDF would not be able to run the Conference without their support and dedication! Volunteers at the Conference serve in multiple capacities — Room Monitors, Navigation Guides, Registration Assistants, and Youth Programming Assistants. Every type of volunteer will receive a free Conference registration in exchange for volunteering for one shift (please note that this excludes expenses related to accommodation, travel, or meals).

In addition, all Conference volunteers are required to attend a pre-Conference volunteer orientation on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Conference hotel (Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center). The exact time of orientation will vary depending on type of volunteer. See below for details about the various types of volunteers and shifts.

If you have questions about volunteering, please e-mail Wilhelm Engelbrecht at wengelbrecht@iocdf.org.

Room Monitors

Room Monitors are assigned to a specific block of workshop sessions for one entire day. Room Monitor shifts run either Friday from 8:00am–5:30pm; Saturday from 8:00am–5:30pm; OR Sunday from 8:00am–12:30pm. Responsibilities include:

  • Distributing handouts to attendees
  • Distributing and collecting session evaluation forms
  • Introducing session speakers using a script prepared by the IOCDF
  • Taking a headcount of people who attended sessions
  • Making IOCDF staff aware of any problems that arise during presentations

Navigation Guides

Navigation Guides help direct and orient conference attendees during registration. Navigation Guide shifts run either Thursday from 12:00pm–4:00pm OR 4:00pm–8:00pm; Friday from 7:00am–11:00am; OR Saturday from 7:00am–11:00am. Responsibilities include:

  • Knowing the layout of the Conference space
  • Helping attendees find the correct registration lines
  • Pointing attendees in the direction of various Conference events and locations
  • Assisting IOCDF staff with crowd control as needed

This volunteer opportunity is only open to those who have previously attended the in-person Annual OCD Conference.

Registration Assistants

Registration Assistants help IOCDF staff provide an expedient and pleasant check-in process for attendees. Registration Assistant shifts run either Thursday from 12:00pm – 4:00pm OR 4:00pm–8:00pm; OR Friday from 7:00am–11:00am. Responsibilities include:

  • Finding attendee badges for those checking in
  • Restocking registration counter supplies (e.g., tote bags, media star stickers, etc.)
  • Assisting IOCDF staff with other registration needs as needed

This volunteer opportunity is only open to those who have previously attended the in-person Annual OCD Conference.

Youth Programming Assistants

Youth Programming Assistants are assigned to a specific day in either the Kids Room, the Middle Schoolers Room, or the Teens Room. In addition to the responsibilities of Room Monitors listed above, Youth Programming Assistants are tasked with taking an active role in helping Room Leaders manage the behavior of the youth in attendance. Youth Programming Assistant shifts run either Friday from 8:00am–5:30pm; Saturday from 8:00am–5:30pm; OR Sunday from 8:00am–12:30pm. Responsibilities include:

  • Taking an active role in assisting Room Leaders with managing the behavior of youth in the room, as needed
  • Distributing and collecting session evaluation forms
  • Introducing session speakers using a script prepared by the IOCDF
  • Taking a head count of youth who attend sessions
  • Making IOCDF staff aware of any problems that arise during presentations

This volunteer opportunity is only open to those who are student/trainees or professionals in educational or therapeutic disciplines, with a proven track record of working with youth.
