The International OCD Foundation (www.iocdf.org)’s annual conference is just a little over one week away! In San Francisco, on July 7th through the 9th, the OCD community will come together for the largest OCD conference on the planet! Past conferences had nearly 2,000 people in attendance. This event is aimed at individuals with OCD, their family members and loved ones, researchers, therapists, and anyone interested in learning more about OCD. Information on the 15 Presenters for the Orange County Speaker Series Being Held on Saturday, April 15th, 10am – 2pm!

Registration is still open for OCD SoCal’s Orange County Speaker Series. Matt Codde, LCSW

Bio: Matt Codde, LCSW, personally struggled with OCD & Anxiety through his teens and early 20’s. The mental shift that led him to be successful in treatment was: instead of focusing on what NOT TO DO, he shifted to focusing on what TO DO every time the OCD thoughts and feelings popped up. Matt has come full circle and now is a clinician specializing in the treatment of OCD and anxiety. His own experience with OCD and his training ultimately led him to developing The Triple-A Response™, a step-by-step approach to follow every time thoughts and feelings come up.

Stephanie Davis, Ph.D.

Bio: Dr. Stephanie Davis is a licensed Psychologist who is passionate about helping clients with anxiety concerns, obsessive compulsive disorder, and career/life transitions. She currently works at the Orange County Anxiety Center, providing specialized care to individuals with concerns related to panic disorder, specific phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, and misophonia. Dr. Davis has presented at the OCD Southern California conferences in the past!

Kevin Foss, MFT

Bio: Kevin Foss, MFT, has been treating OCD and related disorders since 2008. His clinical specialization spans the full range of the anxiety spectrum. This includes all subtypes of OCD, such as Harm OCD, Contamination, Sexual-Orientation OCD, Moral and Religious Scrupulosity, and more. Additionally, he treats Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, and Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs). He has lectured at major OCD conferences including the IOCDF’s annual conference and the OCD SoCal’s annual conference. Kevin also hosts the “Fearcast” podcast!

Adam Frank, M.D., Ph.D.

Bio: Dr. Adam C. Frank is a psychiatrist, researcher, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Frank currently divides his time between caring for individuals with OCD in an outpatient psychiatry clinic, supervising and teaching psychiatry residents at USC, and conducting research on the mechanisms of OCD and improving treatment outcomes through the use of neuroimaging, wearable biosensors, and neuromodulation. 

Eda Gorbis, Ph.D., LMFT

Bio: Eda Gorbis, PhD, LMFT, is the Director and Founder of the Westwood Institute for Anxiety Disorders, Inc., in Los Angeles, California, and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences at the USC Keck School of Medicine. From 1999 and until 2014 Dr. Gorbis held an appointment of Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine. She specializes in treatment of refractory cases of OCD and has integrated the most successful treatment modalities for OCD and complex comorbidities.

Curtis Hsia, Ph.D.

Bio: Dr. Curtis Hsia attended UCLA for his undergraduate degree in psychology and then attended Hofstra University, where he earned his doctoral degree in a combined clinical and school psychology program. He has written and presented several peer reviewed articles and learned the intricacies of cognitive behavioral therapy, and in particular, exposure and response prevention. In 2012, he opened the Orange County Anxiety Center, continues to engage in research, and has presented at OCD Southern California’s conferences.

The Kinberg Family – Toby, Mali, and Simon

Bio: We never truly experience anything in isolation — including OCD. We know the person with OCD is the one who struggles. Family members, though perhaps not the ones diagnosed with OCD, play a significant role in a loved one’s treatment as well. For this event’s lived-experience panel, the Kinberg family–Toby, along with his mom, Dr. Mali Kinberg, and dad, Simon Kinberg, will share their story of how the family came together and navigated an OCD diagnosis. Toby has gone on to publish a children’s book entitled Meven, about a young boy with anxiety named Kevin who must face his fears. The Kinberg family were the keynote speakers at the IOCDF’s 2022 annual conference in Denver, Colorado.

Michelle Malloy, MFT, PMH-C

Bio: Michelle Malloy, MFT, PMH-C, completed her Bachelor’s Degree at UCLA in Psychology and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Cal State Fullerton. She has worked in mental health for over twenty years. She received training from the UCLA Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Clinic and Western Youth Services. Michelle has completed the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI)’s general and pediatric training programs through the International OCD Foundation and specializes in using cognitive-behavioral therapy and exposure and response prevention to treat OCD. She also treats generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and eating disorders. Additionally, she is certified in perinatal mental health and EMDR trained.

Jennifer O’Connor, Ph.D.

Bio: Dr. Jennifer O’Connor is a licensed clinical psychologist and an expert in the field of anxiety and eating disorder treatment. Dr. O’Connor has been featured as an anxiety specialist on the Anderson Cooper Show, CNN Headline News, and A&E’s “Obsessed,” a TV series documenting CBT treatment of individuals with OCD. She has been practicing as a licensed psychologist since 2005, and relies on evidenced-based practices including exposure therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy to help her clients to discover freedom in their daily lives.

Kimberley Quinlan, LMFT

Bio: Kimberley Quinlan, LMFT, is dedicated to providing outstanding therapy and counseling for those with OCD and related disorders, eating disorders, and body focused repetitive disorders (BFRBs). Her approach is both collaborative and compassionate. Kimberley has extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy and exposure response prevention (ERP) for OCD and OCD-related disorders. Additionally, she teaches other clinicians how to provide quality CBT and ERP for OCD and OCD related disorders. Kimberley also hosts the “Your Anxiety Toolkit” podcast!

Sheva Rajaee, MFT

Bio: Sheva is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California, and the founder and director of CAOCD. Sheva received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California (USC). Sheva is also the author of the popular book, Relationship OCD: A CBT-Based Guide to Move Beyond Obsessive Doubt, Anxiety, and Fear of Commitment in Romantic Relationships. She has been featured on CNN, Huffington Post, TED Talks, and various publications and podcasts throughout the years.

Lauren Rosen, LMFT

Bio: Lauren Rosen, LMFT, is the Founder and Director of the Center for the Obsessive Mind. Lauren is based in Southern California but is also licensed to work with individuals in Florida, Utah, and Nevada. In her work as a therapist, Lauren specializes in working with people who have OCD, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders. Additionally, she treats trauma and depression. Lauren also co-hosts the “Purely OCD” podcast and is co-author of the book “Intuitive Eating.” Lauren has presented at both the IOCDF and OCD Southern California annual conferences.

Chris Trondsen, LMFT, APCC

Bio: Chris Trondsen suffered with severe OCD and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) until receiving specialized treatment. No longer under the control of the disorders, Chris now works as a licensed clinician in the mental health field, treating OCD, BDD, and related disorders at The Gateway Institute in Costa Mesa, California. Chris has shared his story of recovery on the Montel Williams Show, Dr. Drew, Fox 5 San Diego, Vox, Vice, Buzzfeed, NBC, and speaking at IOCDF annual conferences. He is Vice President of OCD Southern California and also serves on the Board of Directors of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). Additionally, he is one of the IOCDF’s lead advocates. He is also a leader of multiple IOCDF Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and created the Young Adult Track at the annual IOCDF conference. 

Barbara Van Noppen, Ph.D., LCSW

Bio: Dr. Barbara Van Noppen has over 35 years of experience in the treatment and study of OCD and is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation. Dr. Van Noppen is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California where she teaches and supervises cognitive behavioral therapy. Dr. Van Noppen is internationally recognized for her work including family members in CBT for OCD.

OCD SoCal Will Be Represented at the IOCDF’s Upcoming Online OCD Conference 10/4-10/6!

Four of OCD Southern California’s board members will be presenting at this weekend’s International OCD Foundation’s online OCD conference happening this weekend from Friday, November 4-6, 2022! Those who sign up will also have access to all of the presentation recordings for 60 days after the conference concludes.
