Save the Date(s)! OCD Southern California’s Speakers Series is Back and Bigger Than Ever!

www.ocdsocal.org/speakerseries

OCD Southern California is excited to announce the return of the Speakers Series!  There will be more speakers this year and CEs will be offered at the Orange County location!

These low-cost, in-person events will feature presentations by local OCD specialist treatment providers. They will facilitate panels and presentations on OCD and related disorders and host a question-and-answer segment. This will also be an excellent opportunity to meet and connect with others in the local OCD community.

Registration at each event is $15 per individual. The low-cost sign-up will aid our non-profit in covering venue, food, and parking costs. Each event will offer food and beverages.

This year we are thrilled to announce that we are providing 3 CE credits to clinicians at the Orange County location.  We welcome OCD therapists as well as non-OCD clinicians who would like to learn about OCD treatment. The cost to attend for CE credits is $45.00. CE credits are for continuing education activities for clinicians; these are not for the general public.

We will present the Speakers Series at four locations in Southern California. Join us on Saturday, April 6 in Orange County, and on Sunday, April 7 in the Inland Empire. San Diego will hold its event on Saturday, April 20 and the Los Angeles event will take place on Sunday, April 21.

These events are open to individuals with OCD, their family members and loved ones, mental health providers, students, and the general public. Please join us at your local event, or feel free to attend all four! More information will be up on our website soon, so please save the date(s)!

If you have additional questions, please contact us at info@ocdsocal.org.

Meet Your Online OCD Conference 2023 Keynote Speakers: “Voices From the OCD Community!”

www.iocdf.org/onlineocdcon

The Online OCD Conference, the largest virtual OCD conference on the planet, is on Saturday, October 21st and Sunday, October 22nd, from 8am to 4pm PST each day. To attend the conference, you must register at www.iocdf.org/onlineocdcon. There will be information on the event, how to register for the conference, the program with presentation times and descriptions, and more! Please email us with any questions: info@ocdsocal.org

At the conference, on Saturday, October 21st from 6 to 7pm PST, is the live keynote! This conference keynote is “Voices from the OCD Community!” These are real people, with real stories. The keynote features presenters who will share their experiences while suffering through their lowest moments with OCD. The speakers will then detail how they fought back to regain control of their lies using the tools of treatment. Additionally, they will highlight the ways their lives have vastly improved now that they are managing the disorder. Finally, attendees will have a chance to ask questions that will be answered by the keynote speakers!

Meet your 2023 Online OCD Conference keynote speakers:

Jan Stewart is a mental health and neurodiversity advocate and a parent of two children with severe anxiety and OCD, as well as additional co-occurring conditions. She has written a book: Hold on Tight: A Parent’s Journey Raising Children with Mental Illness and volunteers on several mental health boards. Her son, Andrew, will share his journey being diagnosed with OCD, autism, ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome and learning disabilities. To learn more about Jan: About Me – Jan Stewart (janstewartauthor.com)

Uma Chaterjee is a neuroscientist, board-certified Mental Health Peer Specialist, and IOCDF Advocate. Uma has conducted award-winning research to study the effects of psychedelic-assisted therapy on comorbid OCD and PTSD across several disciplines. To learn more about Uma and her research: Hi, I’m Uma! – Uma R. Chatterjee, M.S., MHPS (umarchatterjee.com)

Valerie Andrews was diagnosed with OCD later in life and has become an IOCDF advocate to advocate for “women of age, color and faith.”  She will be joined by her husband, Melvin, to discuss how he supported his wife through difficult times. To learn more about Valerie: Why I Became An Advocate: Valerie Andrews | International OCD Foundation (iocdf.org)

Hayden and Ian Wright are a married couple who will share their experience with OCD. Ian has lived with OCD all his life but was officially diagnosed and entered treatment in 2013 at the age of 26. While Hayden does not have OCD, she has had her own struggles with anxiety disorders and was diagnosed with PTSD near the start of their relationship. Both Hayden and Ian have experienced the highs and lows of their own mental health journeys and the struggles and successes that presents to a relationship. But they have prioritized open communication and both feel that their experience has helped them become better partners and advocates for each other.

All-star Professionals and People With OCD Join the Online OCD Conference’s “Ask The Experts: Summary Q&A Panel!”

www.iocdf.org/onlineocdcon

The Online OCD Conference, brought to you by the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and OCD SoCal, is happening this weekend on Saturday, October 21st and Sunday, October 22nd! The conference is happening from 8am to 4pm PST each day and it brings together the top OCD experts in the world to one conference. Additionally, each talk is recorded so those who register can watch the presentations at their convenience for up to 60 days after the event!

The Online OCD Conference has brought together a panel of eight notable experts, both mental health experts and people with OCD, to answer questions from the audience during a large Q & A. If you attend live, you can ask any questions you have after watching a full weekend of presentations or any general OCD questions. The wrap up panel is happening on Sunday, Oct. 22nd from 3pm to 4pm PST at the conference live, and it is the only event slated at that time during the event. Therefore, it is an amazing opportunity for all attendees to be together in the same room as part of the OCD community. For those watching live, there is an opportunity to win a raffle prize!
