Join us for the 5th annual OCD Southern California conference–a virtual event this year! The conference is happening on Saturday, July 31st from 9am to 5:30pm PST.

The keynote consists of a panel of advocates made up of five members of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF)’s national and lead advocates: Ethan Smith, Elizabeth McIngvale, Valerie Andrews, Tom Smalley, and Chris Trondsen. They are all individuals with OCD who devote their time to support others with the disorder and to advocate for better mental health services.

Following the keynote speakers, there will be three break-out tracks. Each track will offer a choice of ten presentations. More information about our presentations will be posted on our website in the near future: ocdsocal.org. We are also offering community discussion groups, two documentaries, and a mindfulness/yoga workshop during the lunch break. The conference will end with a Summary Q&A Panel and an opportunity drawing.

Up to 5.25 CEs available for LMFT, LPCC, LCSW and psychologists.

Cost: $20.00 for Early Bird Special–ends July 5th. Cost will increase to $25.00 after July 5th. Cost is per screen. A discount is available for families and groups with the purchase of three or more tickets during one transaction.

To obtain CEs, the cost for the conference entrance and CEs is $35 through July 5th with an increase to $40.00 after July 5th.

Keck Department of Psychiatry is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Keck Department of Psychiatry maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Who: Couples in a dating, engaged, or marital relationship with mental health or addiction challenges. 

What: An interactive webinar to learn and apply tips to your unique circumstances.

A Free Resource for the OCD Coummunity: The “OCD Whisperer Podcast!”

OCD Southern California has shared with our community different valuable resources for OCD in the past—and we received a lot of feedback that people are interested in OCD-themed podcasts.

We wanted to share with you another one: “The OCD Whisperer Podcast!” This podcast is hosted by Kristina Orlova, LMFT, and was created on Feb 2020 because her clients kept wanting to have support and tid-bits they could access in-between sessions.  

This is a free resource that offers tangible tips and interviews with leading OCD specialists—so that you can have support and know you are not alone. “The OCD Whisperer Podcast” has over 13,000 downloads and is grateful for listeners like you showing your support and feedback that this is a valuable resource!

About Kristina Orlova, LMFT, the host of the podcast:

Kristina Orlova, LMFT, is a licensed therapist in California (LMFT Lic # 97264). She was born in the Ukraine and has now lived in California for 30 years. In addition to being an OCD specialist, she too has obsessive compulsive disorder.

Her mission with the podcast is to help her fellow OCD global community get access to information about OCD and its very specialized training, no matter where someone is in the world and no matter how remote!

Join Us This Saturday (11/14/20) For OCD SoCal’s Event, “Support For Families: Part 2!” (Zoom Link Included)

We are excited to hold another virtual event to support family members and loved ones of an individual with OCD. The event will be taking place this Saturday, November 14th, from 11am to 1pm PST.  The start of the event will feature presentations from clinicians who specialize in the treatment of OCD and related disorders, and the remainder of the event will offer attendees to ask questions and receive support! 

The event, “Support For Families: Part 2,” will feature the following presentations:

  • Melissa Mose, LMFT, (https://www.melissamosemft.com/ocd/) will be discussing treatment resistance and parent training.
  • Tiffany Vicencio, LMFT, (https://www.gatewayocd.com/why-choose-gateway/meet-the-staff2/#toggle-id-3) will be presenting on setting boundaries in a loving and supportive way.
  • Sean Sassano-Higgins, MD, (http://ocdsocal.org/about-us/board-of-directors/) will be hosting a question and answer segment on medications for OCD.
  • Chris Trondsen, M.S., AMFT, APCC, (https://www.gatewayocd.com/why-choose-gateway/meet-the-staff2/#toggle-id-4) will be discussing how to deal with anger coming from a loved one with OCD.
