Presentation title: ANXIETY CLUB: How a Hilarious and Impactful Documentary Demonstrates the Need for Innovative Mental Health Care for Anxious Artists

Film website: https://www.anxietyclubmovie.com

The recipient of Mental Health America’s Media Award, ANXIETY CLUB is a new documentary that provides a humorous and heartfelt look at anxiety through the lens of some of today’s most brilliant comedians. With rare access to private therapy sessions, the film follows comedian Tiffany Jenkins as she undergoes exposure therapy for her OCD, capturing the profound changes her treatment brings about. Tiffany and comedians Joe List, Marc Maron, Aparna Nancherla, Mark Normand, Baron Vaughn, and Eva Victor offer candid reflections on their relationship with anxiety through standup, sketch videos, exclusive interviews, and more. Watch the trailer for ANXIETY CLUB: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeHOaA93-M4.

Our session includes a screening of the first 30 minutes of the film followed by a powerful conversation featuring the director of the film Wendy Lobel, comedians and featured participants Baron Vaughn and Tiffany Jenkins, and therapist and featured film participant Natalie Noel, LMHC. Lobel, Vaughn, Jenkins and Noel will discuss how living with OCD or an anxiety disorder can affect artistic pursuits and the importance of access to mental healthcare for artists and people with mental illnesses. This session is accessible to all audiences: people with lived experience of OCD & anxiety, mental health professionals and more.
