Jon Hershfield, MFT , is a psychotherapist who specializes in mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy for OCD and related disorders, and is licensed in the states of Maryland and California. He is director of the OCD and Anxiety Center of Greater Baltimore in Hunt Valley, MD, and coauthor of  The Mindfulness Workbook for OCD . Jon is a frequent presenter at the annual conferences of both the International OCD Foundation and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and a professional contributor to multiple online support groups for OCD.

Orange County Walk Team for OCD Orange County and San Diego Walk Teams for OC.  Thank you to everyone who walked with us (we also had a group in Riverside) and to all of you who supported us with your donations.  The Southern California Affiliate was able to raise over $1000 to support educational programs and speaker events in Southern California.  Please continue to check this website for future events.  Everyone welcome!

Janet Singer is an advocate for OCD awareness, with the goal of spreading the word that OCD, no matter how severe, is treatable. At the age of eighteen, her son Dan suffered from OCD so debilitating he could not even eat. Today, thanks to exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy, he is a college graduate working in his chosen field and living life to the fullest. On Saturday, June 14, 2014, The Gateway Institute is hosting an Open House Mixer for the Southern California Affiliate of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in our newly expanded offices in Costa Mesa, California. Please join us for this exciting event!

Jim Sterner, Director of Gateway Institute and President of the Southern California Affiliate of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) is committed to the mission of increasing awareness and understanding of OCD throughout Southern California by sponsoring this event and other educational programs offering support and a sense of community with other OCD sufferers and their families.

We are pleased to welcome to our mixer, guest speaker, Sarosh J. Motivala, Ph.D., Director of Training for UCLA’s OCD Treatment Program. Dr. Motivala will address details of Exposure Therapy and its importance in the treatment protocol of managing OCD. In addition, Chris Trondsen, distinguished speaker on OCD, will join us to share his personal journey and miraculous recovery from OCD. We will also hear from Chris’ mother as she shares her first-hand account from a family member’s perspective.

We encourage you to attend with friends and family who are interested in learning more about OCD, the IOCDF Southern California Affiliate and the International OCD Foundation conference in Los Angeles July 16-18, 2014. You will also have the opportunity to meet others with OCD and their families, as well as local doctors and therapists.
